Prestige Family History
I had poodles growing up as a child, and also had them as an adult. I started researching different dog breeds after I had a pool put in. I wanted a dog that was intelligent, required exercise, loved the water and was non-shedding. The more I read about the Portuguese Water Dog, the more that I fell in love with the breed. After I talked with several breeders I decided to adopt a male Portuguese Water Dog, “Prescott” from Sharmink Kennels. Prescott is a great dog, he loves people and people love him. With Prescott being such an intelligent and affectionate dog I felt that more people should have the opportunity to own a Portuguese Water Dog.
I started talking with a close friend of mine who had been breeding Boxers for thirty four years about becoming a breeder. Eight months later we added a brown female Portie, “Diva” to the family. After doing all of the necessary testing we had our first litter in 2004. We kept 2 of the puppies from Diva and Prescott’s first litter, “Aloha” and “Avery” they are both black and white wavy’s, so now there are four Portie’s in the Prestige family. Our main goal is to produce healthy and sound puppies with great personalities and temperament. Our puppies are raised in our home with constant human contact so they are very social and affectionate when they go to their new homes. We do not believe in kennel breeding, all of our dogs and puppies are kept indoors.
